## A2s against 33: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for A2s against 33, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A2s | 34.326 | 0.647 | 65.027 | 34.650 |
| 33 | 65.027 | 0.647 | 34.326 | 65.350 |

We compare a suited hand with a pocket pair. One of the other hand's cards outranks the pair and one is below it, which makes this a closer race than a pair against two small cards.

33 is well ahead, and A2s needs a specific kind of board to catch up. Of every 100 boards, about 0.65 are split pots, and the equity figures already include them.

In the ranking of all 169 starting hands, A2s is number 46 and 33 is number 66.

**Boards behind the percentages: 41,095,296 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A2s | 14,106,000 | 266,000 | 26,723,000 |
| 33 | 26,723,000 | 266,000 | 14,106,000 |

The total is exact: 24 specific deals times 1,712,304 boards. The three counts are approximate, worked out from the percentages to five decimals and rounded to the nearest thousand.

**A2s against 33 read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |

| 33 | 1.886 | 1.538 | 2.913 | 0.530 |

The last column is the smallest pot odds, written as a pot-to-call ratio, at which a call breaks even with this equity.

A rainbow flop shows three suits, a two-tone flop repeats one suit, a monotone flop is a single suit, and a paired flop repeats a rank.
