# A2s vs 64s: preflop equity

Who is ahead, A2s or 64s? A2s leads 56.57% to 43.43% before the flop, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

The exact count puts A2s at 56.57% and 64s at 43.43% when the two hands see all five board cards.

## A2s against 64s: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for A2s against 64s, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A2s | 56.278 | 0.586 | 43.136 | 56.571 |
| 64s | 43.136 | 0.586 | 56.278 | 43.429 |

This is a contest between two suited hands, A2s and 64s. Neither hand shares a rank with the other, so this is a contest of high cards, connection and suits.

That is a modest edge, the kind that shows up over many hands and is easy to miss in one. Split pots make up 0.59% of the boards, and both equity figures count them as half a win each.

In the ranking of all 169 starting hands, A2s is number 46 and 64s is number 138.

**Boards behind the percentages: 27,396,864 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A2s | 15,418,000 | 161,000 | 11,818,000 |
| 64s | 11,818,000 | 161,000 | 15,418,000 |

Exact total: 16 deals times 1,712,304 boards. The other three counts come from the five-decimal percentages and are rounded to the nearest thousand, so read them as approximate.

**A2s against 64s read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A2s | 1.303 | 1.777 | 2.318 | 0.768 |
| 64s | 0.768 | 2.318 | 1.777 | 1.303 |

In the last column, a pot-to-call ratio at or above the figure makes a call break even or better at this equity.

## How this was computed

This is an exact count with no sampling. For the 16 ways to deal one A2s and one 64s without reusing a card, grouped by suit pattern, every one of the 1,712,304 possible boards is dealt and both seven-card hands are compared. A tie counts as half a win in the equity column, and each board is counted once under each of its ten three-card flops.
