# AA vs 64s: preflop equity

AA is a big favorite over 64s before the flop: 79.15% to 20.85% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

Dealt all in against each other, AA takes 79.15% of the pot on average and 64s takes the other 20.85%.

## AA against 64s: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for AA against 64s, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 78.934 | 0.425 | 20.641 | 79.146 |
| 64s | 20.641 | 0.425 | 78.934 | 20.854 |

AA and 64s are a pocket pair and a suited hand, in that order. Here a pair faces two cards that are both smaller, so the other hand needs to pair up and still be behind.

AA is the clear favorite, though 64s gets there on roughly one board in 5. Split pots make up 0.43% of the boards, and both equity figures count them as half a win each.

AA ranks number 1 of 169 starting hands, and 64s ranks number 138, by equity against a random hand.

**Boards behind the percentages: 41,095,296 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 32,438,000 | 175,000 | 8,482,000 |
| 64s | 8,482,000 | 175,000 | 32,438,000 |

The board total is exact, 24 deals at 1,712,304 boards each. Won, tied and lost counts are rounded to the nearest thousand from the five-decimal percentages.

**AA against 64s read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 3.795 | 1.267 | 4.845 | 0.263 |
| 64s | 0.263 | 4.845 | 1.267 | 3.795 |

The final column gives the least the pot must offer for each unit called for a call to break even at this equity.

## Who is ahead on which flops

If you know the kind of flop that came, the numbers shift: AA holds 84.91% on rainbow flops topped by a ten or better and 64.26% on low rainbow flops (nine high or lower). AA stays ahead on all five textures, but the swing between them is large, so how the flop looks matters a great deal.

**AA against 64s by flop texture, in percent**

| Flop | Share of flops | AA wins | Ties | 64s wins | AA equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Rainbow, ten or higher | 24.595 | 84.788 | 0.249 | 14.963 | 84.912 |
| Rainbow, nine or lower | 6.314 | 63.776 | 0.971 | 35.253 | 64.261 |
| Two-tone | 46.545 | 77.043 | 0.369 | 22.588 | 77.228 |
| Monotone | 5.212 | 72.599 | 2.475 | 24.926 | 73.836 |
| Paired | 17.334 | 83.132 | 0.007 | 16.861 | 83.136 |

A rainbow flop shows three suits, a two-tone flop repeats one suit, a monotone flop is a single suit, and a paired flop repeats a rank.
