# AA vs A7s: preflop equity

AA is a big favorite over A7s before the flop: 88.03% to 11.97% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

Before any board card is dealt, AA holds 88.03% equity against A7s, which leaves A7s with 11.97%.

## AA against A7s: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for AA against A7s, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 87.383 | 1.303 | 11.314 | 88.034 |
| A7s | 11.314 | 1.303 | 87.383 | 11.966 |

AA and A7s are a pocket pair and a suited hand, in that order. The pair already holds one of the other hand's ranks, and that overlap cuts down the cards the other hand can pair with.

This is one of the lopsided matchups: A7s wins only 11.32% of the boards outright. Of every 100 boards, about 1.30 are split pots, and the equity figures already include them.

For context, AA sits at number 1 of 169 starting hands and A7s at number 24 when each is run against a random hand.

**Boards behind the percentages: 20,547,648 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 17,955,000 | 268,000 | 2,325,000 |
| A7s | 2,325,000 | 268,000 | 17,955,000 |

Exact total: 12 deals times 1,712,304 boards. The other three counts come from the five-decimal percentages and are rounded to the nearest thousand, so read them as approximate.

**AA against A7s read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 7.357 | 1.144 | 8.839 | 0.136 |
| A7s | 0.136 | 8.839 | 1.144 | 7.357 |

The last column is the break-even price: the pot odds a call needs to offer, as a ratio of pot to call.
