# AA vs JTs: preflop equity

AA is a big favorite over JTs before the flop: 78.84% to 21.16% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

The exact count puts AA at 78.84% and JTs at 21.16% when the two hands see all five board cards.

## AA against JTs: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for AA against JTs, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 78.651 | 0.377 | 20.972 | 78.840 |
| JTs | 20.972 | 0.377 | 78.651 | 21.160 |

We compare a pocket pair with a suited hand. A pair against two lower cards is a lopsided matchup: the pair is ahead and the other hand has no overcard to catch.

That is a clear edge, 78.84% to 21.16%, but JTs still wins often enough that one hand proves nothing. Split pots make up 0.38% of the boards, and both equity figures count them as half a win each.

Place 1 of 169 belongs to AA and place 45 belongs to JTs in the ranking against a random hand.

**Boards behind the percentages: 41,095,296 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 32,322,000 | 155,000 | 8,619,000 |
| JTs | 8,619,000 | 155,000 | 32,322,000 |

Exact total: 24 deals times 1,712,304 boards. The other three counts come from the five-decimal percentages and are rounded to the nearest thousand, so read them as approximate.

**AA against JTs read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 3.726 | 1.271 | 4.768 | 0.268 |
| JTs | 0.268 | 4.768 | 1.271 | 3.726 |

In the last column, a pot-to-call ratio at or above the figure makes a call break even or better at this equity.
