# AA vs TT: preflop equity

AA is a big favorite over TT before the flop: 80.75% to 19.25% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

If AA and TT get all the chips in before the flop, AA owns 80.75% of the pot in the long run and TT owns 19.25%.

## AA against TT: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for AA against TT, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 80.560 | 0.378 | 19.062 | 80.749 |
| TT | 19.062 | 0.378 | 80.560 | 19.251 |

Both hands are pocket pairs: AA and TT. Two pairs against each other is a one-way street: the lower pair needs one of its two remaining cards.

A gap this wide means TT is in trouble before the flop and has few good runouts. About 0.38% of boards chop the pot, which is why equity sits slightly above the win figure for both hands.

Among the 169 starting hands, AA is number 1 and TT is number 5 by strength against a random hand.

**Boards behind the percentages: 61,642,944 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 49,660,000 | 233,000 | 11,750,000 |
| TT | 11,750,000 | 233,000 | 49,660,000 |

The board total is exact, 36 deals at 1,712,304 boards each. Won, tied and lost counts are rounded to the nearest thousand from the five-decimal percentages.

**AA against TT read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AA | 4.195 | 1.241 | 5.246 | 0.238 |
| TT | 0.238 | 5.246 | 1.241 | 4.195 |

In the last column, a pot-to-call ratio at or above the figure makes a call break even or better at this equity.

## Who is ahead on which flops

By flop texture, AA's equity runs from 75.16% on monotone flops up to 88.63% on low rainbow flops (nine high or lower). AA stays ahead on all five textures.

**AA against TT by flop texture, in percent**

| Flop | Share of flops | AA wins | Ties | TT wins | AA equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Rainbow, ten or higher | 23.138 | 77.262 | 0.174 | 22.564 | 77.349 |
| Rainbow, nine or lower | 7.771 | 88.135 | 0.996 | 10.869 | 88.633 |
| Two-tone | 46.363 | 79.442 | 0.365 | 20.193 | 79.625 |
| Monotone | 5.152 | 74.288 | 1.738 | 23.974 | 75.157 |
| Paired | 17.576 | 86.341 | 0.007 | 13.652 | 86.345 |

Read the flop types this way: rainbow has three suits, two-tone has two cards of one suit, monotone has three, and paired repeats a rank.

## How this was computed

The page is built from a full enumeration: 1,712,304 boards, every suit pattern of the 36 specific deals, both seven-card hands evaluated. A tie is worth half a win to each hand, and a board is tallied under each of its ten possible flops for the texture rows.
