AKo is a big favorite over A7s before the flop: 69.41% to 30.59% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

The exact count puts AKo at 69.41% and A7s at 30.59% when the two hands see all five board cards.

## AKo against A7s: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for AKo against A7s, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AKo | 67.150 | 4.517 | 28.333 | 69.409 |
| A7s | 28.333 | 4.517 | 67.150 | 30.591 |

AKo is an offsuit hand and A7s is a suited hand. The two hands share a rank, and the one with the better other card dominates: it wins most kicker battles when that shared rank hits.

AKo is the clear favorite, though A7s gets there on roughly one board in 3. About 4.52% of boards chop the pot, which is why equity sits slightly above the win figure for both hands.

Ranked by equity against a random hand, AKo is number 12 of the 169 starting hands and A7s is number 24.

**Boards behind the percentages: 61,642,944 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AKo | 41,393,000 | 2,784,000 | 17,465,000 |
| A7s | 17,465,000 | 2,784,000 | 41,393,000 |

The total is exact: 36 specific deals times 1,712,304 boards. The three counts are approximate, worked out from the percentages to five decimals and rounded to the nearest thousand.

**AKo against A7s read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AKo | 2.269 | 1.489 | 3.529 | 0.441 |
| A7s | 0.441 | 3.529 | 1.489 | 2.269 |

In the last column, a pot-to-call ratio at or above the figure makes a call break even or better at this equity.

## Who is ahead on which flops

If you know the kind of flop that came, the numbers shift: AKo holds 76.64% on rainbow flops topped by a ten or better and 55.83% on low rainbow flops (nine high or lower). AKo stays ahead on all five textures, but the swing between them is large, so how the flop looks matters a great deal.

**AKo against A7s by flop texture, in percent**

| Flop | Share of flops | AKo wins | Ties | A7s wins | AKo equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Rainbow, ten or higher | 23.905 | 75.412 | 2.465 | 22.123 | 76.644 |
| Rainbow, nine or lower | 7.042 | 53.656 | 4.338 | 42.006 | 55.825 |
| Two-tone | 46.527 | 66.790 | 2.714 | 30.496 | 68.147 |
| Monotone | 5.192 | 62.119 | 4.017 | 33.864 | 64.128 |
| Paired | 17.334 | 63.714 | 12.405 | 23.881 | 69.916 |

Read the flop types this way: rainbow has three suits, two-tone has two cards of one suit, monotone has three, and paired repeats a rank.

## How this was computed

Each figure is a complete count over boards. Take the 36 specific deals, group them by suit pattern, deal all 1,712,304 boards against each, and compare the two seven-card hands. Equity counts a tie as half a win; the flop rows use every one of a board's ten flops.
