# AQo vs A2s: preflop equity

AQo is a big favorite over A2s before the flop: 69.31% to 30.69% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

Dealt all in against each other, AQo takes 69.31% of the pot on average and A2s takes the other 30.69%.

## AQo against A2s: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for AQo against A2s, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AQo | 66.378 | 5.872 | 27.750 | 69.314 |
| A2s | 27.750 | 5.872 | 66.378 | 30.686 |

AQo and A2s are an offsuit hand and a suited hand, in that order. Because the hands share one rank, the one with the higher kicker is ahead when that rank pairs and the other hand is mostly drawing.

That is a clear edge, 69.31% to 30.69%, but A2s still wins often enough that one hand proves nothing. Split pots make up 5.87% of the boards, and both equity figures count them as half a win each.

The hand ranking puts AQo at 14 and A2s at 46 out of 169 starting hands.

**Boards behind the percentages: 61,642,944 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AQo | 40,917,000 | 3,620,000 | 17,106,000 |
| A2s | 17,106,000 | 3,620,000 | 40,917,000 |

The board total is exact, 36 deals at 1,712,304 boards each. Won, tied and lost counts are rounded to the nearest thousand from the five-decimal percentages.

**AQo against A2s read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AQo | 2.259 | 1.507 | 3.604 | 0.443 |
| A2s | 0.443 | 3.604 | 1.507 | 2.259 |

The final column gives the least the pot must offer for each unit called for a call to break even at this equity.

## Who is ahead on which flops

Rainbow flops topped by a ten or better are the best for AQo (76.47%); low rainbow flops (nine high or lower) are the worst (56.47%). AQo stays ahead on all five textures, but the swing between them is large, so how the flop looks matters a great deal.

Rainbow flops have three suits, two-tone flops repeat one suit, monotone flops are all one suit, and paired flops repeat a rank.

## How this was computed

The figures are counted, not estimated: 1,712,304 boards for every suit pattern of the 36 specific deals, with both seven-card hands compared each time. Equity gives half a win for a tie. For the flop rows, a board is counted once under each of the ten flops inside it.
