# TT vs 86s: preflop equity

TT is a big favorite over 86s before the flop: 80.42% to 19.58% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

Dealt all in against each other, TT takes 80.42% of the pot on average and 86s takes the other 19.58%.

## TT against 86s: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for TT against 86s, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TT | 80.192 | 0.452 | 19.356 | 80.418 |
| 86s | 19.356 | 0.452 | 80.192 | 19.582 |

TT and 86s are a pocket pair and a suited hand, in that order. Here a pair faces two cards that are both smaller, so the other hand needs to pair up and still be behind.

TT is a big favorite here before anyone sees a flop. 0.45% of boards are ties, so the equity of each hand is its win rate plus half of that.

By strength against a random hand, TT holds place 5 of 169 and 86s holds place 110.

**Boards behind the percentages: 41,095,296 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TT | 32,955,000 | 186,000 | 7,954,000 |
| 86s | 7,954,000 | 186,000 | 32,955,000 |

The total is exact: 24 specific deals times 1,712,304 boards. The three counts are approximate, worked out from the percentages to five decimals and rounded to the nearest thousand.

**TT against 86s read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TT | 4.107 | 1.247 | 5.166 | 0.244 |
| 86s | 0.244 | 5.166 | 1.247 | 4.107 |

The last column is the smallest pot odds, written as a pot-to-call ratio, at which a call breaks even with this equity.

## Who is ahead on which flops

The flop changes the picture. TT does best on rainbow flops topped by a ten or better, at 85.67%, and worst on low rainbow flops (nine high or lower), at 68.57%. TT stays ahead on all five textures, but the swing between them is large, so how the flop looks matters a great deal.

**TT against 86s by flop texture, in percent**

| Flop | Share of flops | TT wins | Ties | 86s wins | TT equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Rainbow, ten or higher | 24.595 | 85.553 | 0.225 | 14.222 | 85.666 |
| Rainbow, nine or lower | 6.314 | 68.319 | 0.501 | 31.180 | 68.569 |
| Two-tone | 46.545 | 78.456 | 0.267 | 21.277 | 78.589 |
| Monotone | 5.212 | 73.558 | 2.384 | 24.058 | 74.750 |
| Paired | 17.334 | 83.565 | 0.674 | 15.761 | 83.902 |

Read the flop types this way: rainbow has three suits, two-tone has two cards of one suit, monotone has three, and paired repeats a rank.

## How this was computed

The figures are counted, not estimated: 1,712,304 boards for every suit pattern of the 24 specific deals, with both seven-card hands compared each time. Equity gives half a win for a tie. For the flop rows, a board is counted once under each of the ten flops inside it.
