# TT vs ATs: preflop equity

TT is a big favorite over ATs before the flop: 65.20% to 34.80% equity, counted exactly over every board, with the split by flop type and suit.

Counting every board, the equity split is 65.20% for TT and 34.80% for ATs, so TT leads by 30.40 points.

## TT against ATs: the numbers

**Exact preflop results for TT against ATs, in percent**

| Hand | Wins | Ties | Loses | Equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TT | 64.161 | 2.076 | 33.763 | 65.199 |
| ATs | 33.763 | 2.076 | 64.161 | 34.801 |

One side is a pocket pair, the other is a suited hand. The pair already holds one of the other hand's ranks, and that overlap cuts down the cards the other hand can pair with.

That is a clear edge, 65.20% to 34.80%, but ATs still wins often enough that one hand proves nothing. Ties are 2.08% of the outcomes here; each tied board gives both hands half the pot.

By strength against a random hand, TT holds place 5 of 169 and ATs holds place 13.

**Boards behind the percentages: 20,547,648 counted in all**

| Hand | Boards won, about | Boards tied, about | Boards lost, about |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TT | 13,184,000 | 427,000 | 6,938,000 |
| ATs | 6,938,000 | 427,000 | 13,184,000 |

12 specific deals times 1,712,304 boards gives the exact total. The won, tied and lost counts are approximations from the five-decimal percentages, rounded to the nearest thousand.

**TT against ATs read as odds**

| Hand | Equity as odds (to 1) | Wins one deal in | Loses one deal in | Pot odds needed to call (to 1) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TT | 1.873 | 1.559 | 2.962 | 0.534 |
| ATs | 0.534 | 2.962 | 1.559 | 1.873 |

The last column is the smallest pot odds, written as a pot-to-call ratio, at which a call breaks even with this equity.

## Who is ahead on which flops

By flop texture, TT's equity runs from 60.93% on monotone flops up to 80.84% on low rainbow flops (nine high or lower). TT stays ahead on all five textures, but the swing between them is large, so how the flop looks matters a great deal.

**TT against ATs by flop texture, in percent**

| Flop | Share of flops | TT wins | Ties | ATs wins | TT equity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Rainbow, ten or higher | 23.011 | 60.081 | 2.097 | 37.822 | 61.130 |
| Rainbow, nine or lower | 7.771 | 79.098 | 3.484 | 17.418 | 80.840 |
| Two-tone | 46.236 | 61.676 | 2.205 | 36.119 | 62.778 |
| Monotone | 5.151 | 59.485 | 2.895 | 37.620 | 60.933 |
| Paired | 17.831 | 70.712 | 0.862 | 28.426 | 71.143 |

A rainbow flop shows three suits, a two-tone flop repeats one suit, a monotone flop is a single suit, and a paired flop repeats a rank.
