# ICM With 4 Players Left, 2 Paid

ICM examples with 4 players left and 2 places paid (65/35 percent): 5 stack patterns, equity and bubble factors.

The payouts of 65/35 percent with 4 players left pull stacks up to 3.50 points away from their chip shares, depending on the pattern. The highest bubble factor in any of the 5 stack patterns is 1.78.

- Players left: 4
- Places paid: 65/35
- Stack patterns: 5

## How do the payouts shape ICM with 4 players left?

2 of the 4 players still in get paid, at 65/35 percent. The step from second to nothing is 35 points and the step from first to second is 30 points. That leaves 2 players short of the money.

## How do the stack patterns compare with 4 players left?

Each pattern below is one way 4 players might split their chips. The table puts the biggest and smallest stack of each next to their chip share, with the highest bubble factor in the pattern. Open a pattern for the full table of every seat.

Biggest and smallest stack by pattern:

| Pattern | Biggest: share of chips | Biggest: prize equity | Smallest: share of chips | Smallest: prize equity | Highest bubble factor |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Even stacks | 25.0% | 25.0% | 25.0% | 25.0% | 1.30 |
| One chip leader | 40.0% | 36.5% | 20.0% | 21.2% | 1.38 |
| One short stack | 30.0% | 29.7% | 10.0% | 11.0% | 1.44 |

| Stack ladder | 40.0% | 37.1% | 10.0% | 11.2% | 1.63 |

Prize equity of every seat, biggest stack first, in percent of the prize pool:

| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Even stacks | 25.00 | 25.00 | 25.00 | 25.00 |
| One chip leader | 36.50 | 21.17 | 21.17 | 21.17 |
| One short stack | 29.67 | 29.67 | 29.67 | 11.00 |
| Two big stacks | 36.00 | 36.00 | 14.00 | 14.00 |
| Stack ladder | 37.06 | 30.29 | 21.44 | 11.21 |

Chance of finishing in the money:

| Pattern | Biggest stack | Smallest stack |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Even stacks | 50.0% | 50.0% |
| One chip leader | 70.0% | 43.3% |
| One short stack | 59.0% | 22.9% |
| Two big stacks | 70.7% | 29.3% |
| Stack ladder | 71.6% | 23.5% |

## What does each pattern show with 4 players left?

Even stacks: the biggest stack holds 25.00% of the chips and is worth 25.00%, which is +0.00 points. The smallest holds 25.00% and is worth 25.00%, +0.00 points.

One chip leader. Seat 1 turns 40.00% of the chips into 36.50% of the prize pool (-3.50 points), while Seat 4 turns 20.00% into 21.17% (+1.17 points).

One short stack: the biggest stack holds 30.00% of the chips and is worth 29.67%, which is -0.33 points. The smallest holds 10.00% and is worth 11.00%, +1.00 points.

Two big stacks: 37.50% of the chips is worth 36.00% at the top of the table (-1.50 points), and 12.50% is worth 14.00% at the bottom (+1.50 points).

Stack ladder: 40.00% of the chips is worth 37.06% at the top of the table (-2.94 points), and 10.00% is worth 11.21% at the bottom (+1.21 points).

## What does a call cost with 4 players left?

Break-even equity when the smallest stack calls the biggest:

| Pattern | All-in (chips) | Bubble factor | Chip break-even | ICM break-even |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Even stacks | 10,000 | 1.3043 | 50.0% | 56.6% |
| One chip leader | 10,000 | 1.3804 | 50.0% | 58.0% |
| One short stack | 5,000 | 1.1282 | 50.0% | 53.0% |
| Two big stacks | 5,000 | 1.2000 | 50.0% | 54.5% |
| Stack ladder | 5,000 | 1.1747 | 50.0% | 54.0% |

The costliest call for a short stack is in the "one chip leader" pattern, where it needs 58.0% equity rather than 50%. Put that number against the equity of the hand you hold before you call off a stack.

## Where can I look at a different payout or player count?

The other seven structure pages cover three to six players left with two or three places paid. The ICM calculator takes any stacks and payouts of your own, up to ten players.

## How were these ICM tables computed?

Each player finishes first with a chance equal to their share of the chips, and every later place is drawn the same way from the players left. Prize equity is the payout of each place times the chance of finishing there. The bubble factor divides the equity lost by losing an all-in by the equity gained by winning it, with the other stacks unchanged, and a player who reaches 0 chips takes the lowest place.

## Questions

**What is the ICM value of an even stack with 4 players left and 2 paid?**

Each seat is worth 25.00% of the prize pool, the same as its share of the chips, because equal stacks are equal in ICM. The bubble factor between any two seats is 1.30.

**How far can ICM move a stack from its chip share with 4 players left?**

Up to 3.50 points in the one chip leader pattern with 2 places paid at 65/35 percent. The biggest stack gives equity up and the smallest takes it.

**Do these examples include the effect of blinds or antes?**

No. ICM values stacks by chips alone, so blinds, antes, position and the skill of the players do not enter. Use the push or fold calculator to price a shove with blinds and a prize pool together.
